Dashboard

Beginner4 min read

Your workspace home page — a one-screen overview of what matters most, tailored to your role.

Key concepts

  • Dashboard: The landing page after you log in, accessed any time via Dashboard in the sidebar. It shows a role-specific set of cards, KPIs, and lists.
  • Role-based view: The dashboard adapts automatically to your base role. An Admin sees company-wide finance KPIs; a Member sees their own tasks and attendance; a Guest sees a minimal, read-only view.
  • Announcements Widget: A panel on every dashboard that surfaces pinned announcements from your workspace admin.
  • Onboarding Checklist: A guided setup panel that appears on the dashboard of new workspaces until the key steps (first project, first invoice, inviting members, and other setup tasks) are completed.
How to

Step-by-step

Admin Dashboard

  1. Hero: a time-of-day greeting, quick-action buttons (New Invoice, Generate Payslip, Add Employee, Customers, New Announcement), and live StatBadges for Active Members, Open Invoices, and Pending Leave.

  2. KPI row (four cards, each with a sparkline):

    • Revenue — confirmed payments
    • Expenses — expenses in the period
    • Payroll — payslip totals
    • Net Profit — net amount with profit margin percentage
  3. Needs Your Attention: a widget listing items that need action — expense approvals, overdue invoices, pending leave, and tasks in review.

  4. Today: who is on leave today, deadlines, and an AI insight.

  5. Project Status: progress across active projects.

  6. Recent Activity: a feed of recent workspace events.

Announcements Widget

  1. Pinned announcements from your admin appear in a dedicated card on every dashboard.
  2. The three most recent pinned announcements are shown.
  3. Click any announcement to expand it; follow the View all announcements link to see the full feed.
  4. Announcements are filtered by your role — you only see messages targeted to you.

See Announcements for how admins create and target them.

Onboarding Checklist

New workspaces see a guided checklist on the dashboard until setup is complete. Items vary by role:

For admins, the workspace checklist includes:

  • Create your first project
  • Create your first invoice
  • Invite members
  • Set up work hours
  • Configure leave
  • Add holidays
  • Set up departments
  • Set up roles
  • Configure invoicing

For members, the personal checklist focuses on personal setup:

  • Complete your profile
  • Upload an avatar
  • Log your first time entry

Once an item is complete it is checked off automatically. The whole checklist disappears once all items are done.

Tips & best practices

  • Treat the dashboard as your daily start screen — the KPI row and the Needs Your Attention widget surface anomalies (e.g., a spike in overdue invoices) faster than drilling into each module.
  • If your dashboard feels wrong for your work, check your role in Settings > Users — the dashboard variant follows your base role.
  • Admins: keep important info pinned as an Announcement so it appears on every teammate's dashboard, not just in an email.
  • Finance/HR managers: the dashboard shows current-period data. Use the dedicated Reports page for historical analysis and custom ranges.
